A Techno-Organic child is the product of human DNA and the Cybertronian Equivalent. While Cybertronian's only gender assignment is based on personality, it must be a female who's DNA comes from the human side. Techno-Organic children are born in a laboratory setting, from a donated human egg cell, and donated 'DNA' from the bot involved.
Upon development, it may be decided to keep the child in development longer than just until 'birth', though this will forward their life, potentially by several years. This is the case with most of the current techno-organics.
Before we continue. Techno-organics were developed in a scientific experimentation group, headed by Perceptor and several human volunteers. The program didn't go much further than discovery, though, in this program, only a couple of bots being willing to donate to the project. Humans occasionally take on similar projects, be it for their own experimentation or for other various reasons. Currently, it is advised that any bot interested in having a techno-organic child contacts Ratchet or Perceptor.
With that behind us, let's get into development. There are two specific benchmarks of techno-organic development that are significantly different from human development - the development of their 'ability', and fhe eventual emergence of their bot form and alt mode. These events are usually triggered by the stress of growing up. In some instances, however, the child has already lived a fairly traumatic life, and just 'growing up' isn't enough to trigger the development of these benchmarks. In such circumstances, either they must wait for it to trigger itself, over time, or trigger it through an even more traumatic event - such as a car crash, or and attack on that person.
The techno organic ability is something that varies from child to child. Often, it correlates to the child's background, be it their parents or their upbringing, but not always. This usually developes in the child's early teens, and will often come about sporadically for a good while before it is 'mastered' by the techno-organic in question.
The bot form and alt mode come about later, when the child is entering adulthood. The robot form will often emerge suddenly, unless it is guided by somebody on hand, which is generally unlikely. The techno-organic will then feel the natural Cybertronian need to find an alternate mode and blend in. The bot form will usually not surpass ten feet, due to the forced compression of metal in the organic form.
From a young age the child will develop a spark, and faint traces of energon might be found in his/her system, though this is unlikely until bot form develops.
Nobody is quite sure how long a techno-organic lifespan is, though it might be noted that, upon attaining their bot form, their physical aging decreases in rate dramatically, almost seeming to stop, allowing human rates of learning with a potentially infinite lifespan.
Techno-organics are still generally unknown in society, though, and are often objects of curiosity. It is advised that they be kept away from those who work in the crueller sciences, though...
